Ok, most of you guys, my friends, have children of your own. So what I want to know is what the hell I'm doing wrong that they're getting sick all the time. Get this, and it makes no sense to me, Sky is on antibiotics for the bacteria on her skin on her bottom, and she spiked a fever on me this afternoon up to 103.4, and is absolutely screaming that her stomache hurts... called doctors office and they wanted to see her. So we go see the doctor at 4:30 this afternoon, and doctor told me he wanted to do a strep test. If the strep test comes out negative then she'd have to go to TMC for further testing for a condition that happens to kids about this age, where the large intestine kinda slides inside itself in a place, and then goes back out again. Thats why the pain can come and go in it. This is the first time she's been like this about her stomache hurting, even when she was constipated to no end.
So the 5 minutes it takes to get that strep test was horrible. It's the first time I've been praying that my daughter has strep. The test if they had to do it for the other thing would mean they'd have to put her under, and get into her large intestine, and take a look around. The good news to that was 9 outta 10 times the procedure fixed the problem, but I really was not looking forward to the possiblity of that trip!! Good news! The strep came out positive, was a weak positive, but still a positive. So the confusing thing is that she's on Cephelexine, which is a broad spectrum anti-biotic which kills strep. The doctor is as confused as I am of how she's caught it while she's on the anti-biotics. So now she'll also be on penicillin--which btw gave her the yeast infection in the first place....
So every night for the next 5 nights she'll be taking the following medicine, keep up or I might loose you: 14 ml of isoniazid, 1 B6 pill, 5 ml of cephelexine, 5 ml of penicillin, and motrin or tylenol to keep down the fever.... God poor child her liver'll be shot before this thing is over i SWEAR!! And guess what? At 7:00 this evening as Audrey was getting the baby into the bath for me, she noticed she was warm too.... and guess what? She's at 101. *me and the brick wall getting aquainted again* Thank goodness I've already asked the doctor what I'm going to do if the baby starts to run a fever. He said as long as he's not runny nose or coughing then he can give her a script too. Thank god for that, one less doctors appt. Sean's ENT appt for the asthma specialist is tomorrow morning at 10 am, and I have to be there at 9:30 for new patient paperwork. Have to drop the two girls off at Debi's, as I can't take two girls with strep to their office.
It just gets better and better! What I don't get, is I keep my house relatively clean, I wash my dishes a couple times a day, I do my laundry, I don't have bugs, I sanitize when we're sick, I do everything I've always done before with illness, and yet they're sick all the time! This is how I feel at the moment. I take one step forward, I bang my head into a brick wall, I loose my footing, take two steps back, start to regain ground, get one step forward and find the brick wall again, over and over again! But yeah.
Here I go off to get medicine now...
Have a great night all!
